The Lonny blog is featuring Miles Redd and I encourage you all to check it out as it shows his work with Oscar de La Renta’s showroom. If you are not familiar with Mr. Redd then please click here to visit his site and view more of his work. I think you will all find it inspiring.

So there is exciting news on the design block! Lonny Mag founders Michelle Adams and Patrick Cline have announced they will be teaming up with Traditional home Magazine and creating a new online magazine called Trad Home. In the past as much as I enjoy the online magazines at times they can go a little eclectic so I am excited for everyone to have an opportunity to be exposed to more traditional designs. I think this is especially important as the market in our area is particularly traditional. The first issue is set to debut in May 2011 with a follow-up in September. I will most certainly remind everyone to check it out when it debuts!

{The Story of Eames Furniture by Marilyn Neuhart}

I have found the holy grail and it comes in the form of this book, “The Story of Eames Furniture” by Marilyn Neuhart with her husband John Neuhart. Of course this is my personal design holy grail and yours might be totally different but please humor me. This book collection is over 800 pages long and it beautifully details the works of Charles and Ray Eames, who created furniture that we now know as modern classics. I encourage you all to pick up a set for yourselves or even just learn more about Charles and his wife Ray. They really helped to change and influence the landscape of design today. Plus it is fantastic design history knowledge! We all had designers that inspired us we were learning in design school and they were some of my personal faves. My heart still skips a beat when I see one of their pieces in real life. Don’t forget it is the holiday season and this could make a great gift.

If you have about 15 minutes I highly reccomend that you watch this video of Marilyn and John Neuhart describe the book and their personal experiences with Charles Eames.
